Every day, thousands of people fall victim to fraudulent e-mails, texts and calls from scammers pretending to be their bank. In this time of expanded use of online banking, the problem is only getting worse. 

Consumers reported losing a record-breaking $5.8 billion to fraud in 2021 for a 70 percent year-over-year increase, according to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). 

That is why West Shore Bank is teaming with the American Bankers Association and local law enforcement to help you identify various scams through a series of Safe Banking: Identifying and Avoiding Scams workshop that will assist you in preventing and spotting financial fraud and abuse.

This event is free to attend and open to the public. The event will be held at West Shore Bank in Traverse City at 400 E. Eighth Street, 3rd Floor, Traverse City, MI 49686.

This workshop will educate customers about ways to combat elder financial exploitation by learning more about specific scams targeting our parents and grandparents.
