Safe Banking: Identifying and Avoiding Scams | Wednesday, October 5 | 5:30-7:30 pm | West Shore Bank in Traverse City


Every day, thousands of people fall victim to fraudulent e-mails, texts and calls from scammers pretending to be their bank. In this time of expanded use of online banking, the problem is only getting worse. 

Consumers reported losing a record-breaking $5.8 billion to fraud in 2021 for a 70 percent year-over-year increase, according to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). 

That is why West Shore Bank is teaming with the American Bankers Association and local law enforcement to help you identify various scams through a series of Safe Banking: Identifying and Avoiding Scams workshop that will assist you in preventing and spotting financial fraud and abuse.

Support Financial Caregiving – Acting as a Responsible Caregiver | Friday, October 14 | 10 am to noon | Manistee County Council on Aging

West Shore Bank is teaming with the American Bankers Association and local law enforcement for the Safe Banking: Acting as a Responsible Caregiver workshop to help you understand, recognize and avoid financial fraud and appreciate the benefits of working with a reliable financial caregiver.

Senior financial abuse costs an estimated $36.5 billion annually. If you are a senior, do you know how you can protect yourself? As a family member or friend, do you know some warning signs of elder financial exploitation?

Join the West Shore Bank team, who is partnering with the American Bankers Association and local law enforcement to help you identify various scams through a series of Safe Banking: Protecting Our Elderly Against Scams. This workshop will educate customers about ways to combat elder financial exploitation by learning more about specific scams targeting our parents and grandparents.
